This is a set of 3 minis from Santa Eulalia, Mexico: (1) Ram’s Horn Selenite, (2) Smithsonite, and (3) Dogtooth Calcite. See below for info on each mineral. This small set of specimens is a striking and unique display collection, and would offer a lot of beauty and interest to any specimen collection! Locality: Santa Eulalia District, Chihuahua, Mexico Dimensions: contact me Weight: contact me *Ram’s Horn Selenite: a variety of gypsum, an evaporate that forms in ancient river and lakebeds, as well as caves. Some of the largest crystals on the planet are selenite—in the right conditions, they can grow up to 50 feet long. Gypsum is very soft, and semi-elastic (it can be bent without breaking, but will not bend back on its own...and it will break if bent far enough.) This semi-elasticity is what causes the “ram’s horn” curvature. *Gypsum is water-soluble—do NOT immerse this specimen in water, or leave in a very humid environment for an extended period of time. Healing: Selenite is associated with peace and angelic connection. It is believed to enhance serenity and awareness, and is also believed to clear negative energy. *Smithsonite: a zinc carbonate mineral, which at one time was confused with similar looking species hemimorphite. Smithsonite is composed of very dense crystals or radiating botryoidal layers, occurs in many colors and may display multiple colors in the same piece. Healing: Smithsonite provides a pleasant and charming energy, which enhances leadership and aids in dealing with uncomfortable situations. Smithsonite is associated with the ability to strengthen ones psychic abilites,and may also be used to activate the chakra channel. *Dogtooth Calcite: a calcium carbonate mineral that forms in a multitude of growth habits. In fact, it forms in a wider variety of colors and habits than any other mineral! One of these is dogtooth crystals--sharp, terminated rhombohedral crystals which resemble a dog's teeth. Healing: Calcite is believed to enhance clarity of perception, inner vision, and mental focus. It is associated with all mental pursuits and clear inner vision. *Though many gems and minerals have historical and cultural associations with healing properties, these items are sold for display, study, and collector interest only.
