This is a gorgeous natural hyalite opal from Mexico, and it features unique and striking visual appeal! Mexico yields a wide variety of opals, including this beautiful "common" (lacking opalescence) variety. This piece features glassy clear to slightly yellow opal, with little to no matrix. The specimen has an interesting globular, botryoidal texture, and shows great crystallization and glassy clarity. The most amazing aspect of hyalite opal is its strong yellow to green fluorescence! This opal is a very unique fluorescent specimen, and a fun piece to add to your opal collection!

Durability: Hardness--6.5. Opals are prone to dryness and cracking, known as crazing, so care must be taken in wearing and setting. Avoid rapid temperature changes.

Healing: Opals are associated with intuition, dreams, deep inner knowledge, and communication. Native cultures in multiple localities, particularly Australia, associate the opal with dreamtime.
