Herkimer Diamond Quartz Crystal, Mohawk Valley, NY USA—SELF3

It is naturally raw and unpolished, and any damage has not been polished out.* This glamorous little beauty is known as a Herkimer diamond quartz, an unusual variety of locality quartz found in Herkimer County, New York. Smoky Herkimers are more rare than clear particularly in crystals of this size. This particular crystal was self-collected from Diamond Mountain, Little Falls, NY, in April 2024! This diminutive yet powerful little gem exhibits double termination, with some light abrasions, contact and roughness on one side, and one incomplete point. There are lots of rainbows in these crystals. The rainbows likely formed as a result of the crystals’ intense and changing formation environment, which likely included tectonic activity resulting in interior fractures. It’s my privilege to have found these crystals personally and to offer them to you directly. This substantial smoky specimen would make an excellent piece for meditation or gridding, and is a very collectible piece for lovers of this iconic locality quartz! The name "diamond" describes these quartz points' excellent clarity, and superficial resemblance to raw diamonds. Herkimers are known for their sharp faces, and they often feature twinning and double terminations. Smoky quartz gets its color from exposure to natural sources of radiation—colors can range from palest smoke to nearly black. Quartz is composed of silicon dioxide, and is one of the most abundant minerals on the planet. It is found in a multitude of colors, growth habits, and localities. Double terminated crystals have terminations growing in opposite directions. The hardness of quartz is 7, and it crystallizes in the hexagonal (trigonal) system. HEALING PROPERTIES: Herkimer diamond quartz is believed to have a very high vibration, and are associated with spiritual evolution. They carry the energy of attunement, and are believed to be excellent for transmitting and receiving spiritual energy. Quartz is believed to amplify intention, and is thought to be easily programmable for different purposes.
