This little beauty is a unique example of hematite included smoky amethyst, from Zimbabwe! It is a natural crystal cluster, composed of multiple smoky toned crystals, wrapped around a subtle pale amethyst raw core. It looks to me like a little blooming flower or a fortress, and self-stands! The crystals are dark and have zones of purple and deep smoke, with interesting slightly “folded” surfaces. Inclusions are as varied as phantoms, smoky shades, and red "harlequin" hematite needles. Chibuku amethyst has a similar formation to the Brandberg amethyst found in Namibia, but it is from 2,000 miles away!) This totally unique cluster features beautiful formation, exceptional interior landscape, and a lovely rich smoky purple shade. It also displays areas of clay and oxides crusted on the surface. (As an unpolished piece, it has incomplete formations, abrasions and inclusions, which do not lessen its beauty.) It looks especially beautiful when backlit. Chibuku Mine amethyst rivals the quality of some of the most highly prized amethyst varieties in the world, but since it is a new find (less than 2 years old), pieces can be had for a great price.
This small, uniquely formed cluster would make a perfect display specimen or meditation aid.
Locality: Chibuku Mine, Zambezi Valley, Zimbabwe.
Dimensions: 1.25” x 1.07” x 1.00” (31mm x x 27mm x 26mm)
Weight: 26 g (0.9 oz)
Quartz is composed of silicon dioxide, and is one of the most abundant minerals on the planet. It is found in a multitude of colors, growth habits, and localities. Quartz may also host a huge variety of different included minerals. Amethyst is the purple variety of Quartz; its color is a result of iron and other trace minerals. Scepter growth resembles a king’s scepter—the formation is formed by a thinner or interior core, which either protrudes from within and/or terminates in a larger crystal point at the tip.
Healing Properties: Amethyst is one of the earliest used stones for healing purposes--it has long been believed to protect and purify, connecting us to spiritual guides and releasing negative habits. Smoky quartz is associated with grounding and manifestation, while hematite is associated with feminine energy and vitality.
*Though many gems and minerals have historical and cultural associations with healing properties, these items are sold for display, study, and collector interest only.
