This is quite a classic specimen: a single large almandine garnet dodecahedron, from Garnet Hill, Nevada. This cluster is very small and aesthetically arranged, and is composed of the large focal crystal, smaller babies, and cream to white feldspar. Though small, it is a substantial sized single crystal—it is mounted in a perky box with locality info. This is a special miniature cluster from a venerable locality, and would make an excellent addition to any specimen or jewelry supply collection! Garnet Hill is a classic American locality, with abundant garnets that are almandine, but are frequently reported as being spessartine. Locality: Garnet Hill, White Pine County, Nevada, USA. Dimensions: 0.50” x 0.50” x 0.44” (13mm x 13mm x 11mm) Weight: n/a (mounted) Garnet is the name of a group of minerals, which can form in virtually any color, and many different habits. Garnet varieties include almandine, pyrope, spessartine, grossular, uvarovite, and andradite. Garnets form in the cubic, or isometric, system--they form geometric shapes such as pentagonal dodecahedron, rhombic dodecahedron, and trapezohedron. Garnets display a range of chemical properties, and hardness varies between 6.5-7.5. Healing Properties: Garnet is most often associated with grounding and physical health and vitality.
